BREAKING NEWS!!!
by DATA-DOG inbreaking news from co!!
according to a reliable source, the co in my area says that jws may have been hearing the phrase, "final push" being used.
what sage advice did this shepherd, duke, and "star" of revelation have to say?
-
Pete Zahut
He also said that cowards won't get everlasting life, at least that's what Jesus says in Revelation. So who would these "cowards" be? Those who become discouraged to the point of being paralyzed, or becoming inactive in the ministry. Those who are too afraid of "Satan's" roars and become doubters. Those who don't stand up for Jeehoober!
Proving once again that JW's real motivation is about saving ones own skin rather than their a real love of their fellow man.

Drama at the RC
by leaving_quietly ini sat through part 1 of the drama yesterday.
i thought they did a fairly decent job with it, except for the weird questions asked up front by an ancient guy asking "how do you know jehovah's witnesses have the truth?
" that has absolutely nothing to do with how he was convinced jesus was the messiah.

I thought they did a fairly decent job with it, except for the weird questions asked up front by an ancient guy asking "How do you know Jehovah's Witnesses have the truth?" That has absolutely NOTHING to do with how he was convinced Jesus was the Messiah. But, I digress...
Not to mention that the name Jehovah's Witnesses wasn't adopted until the 20th century. Why would someone playing the part of a Bible Character use that name ?
Where was the RC you were at (if it is okay to tell me)?
Tacoma, Washington, USA
P.S I live about a half hour from the Tacoma Dome....you ?

That’s What Happens When You Leave the Truth.
by John Aquila init never failed, when someone got disfellowshipped or left the organization, their life became shambles.
if married, a divorce ensued.
if the person had a great job, the company would lay-off or close.

Finally she tells me, “You know, I really don’t care to know anything about the Watchtower. I don’t care if they are a cult, I don’t care if they are the true religion, I just don’t care to know anything about them.
Thankfully she isn't one of the many who leave the organization and are affected by the lingering guilt or unsureness of whether or not JW's really are " The Truth". Learning TTATT is a must for some of us who were dealing with the residual JW way of thinking.
While she is telling me this, I am beginning to see that I have missed out on a lot in life. I was really trapped like a slave and didn’t realized that great possibilities were taken away from us when we become one of Jehovah’ Witness.
Not to mention being robbed of the drive and ambition one has as a young person. When everyone in your little world has you convinced the world is coming to an end at any minute, it pretty much vanquishes the feeling of endless possibilities one has when they are young.
The only bad thing about this experience is that I can’t relate it to all those JWs that made her life miserable. They are still thinking;
That’s What Happens When You Leave the Truth.
Having grown up as a JW and hearing all the X-JW train wreck stories, at first I worried about our life falling apart once we left the Org. in 2008. On the contrary...within months, even though the economy was crashing, I got the best job I ever had (still have it). We paid off our house, my youngest Son got into the University and has a lovely girlfriend and they are both excelling and I have the most peace of mind and calmness, I've ever had. Then the residual JW mindset kicked in from time to time and I'd wonder if maybe Satan was helping me so that I wouldn't return to "The Truth" and go down with "this system". Some JW's that I knew from another congregation came to my door a year of so ago . They didn't know we weren't JW's anymore. I invited them in and we had a nice visit. They were gushing on about how nice the house and garden looked and how good I looked and how happy I seemed and wanted to know what was going on because the last time they saw me I was struggling with severe anxiety. I tried to put them off as long as I could but they kept on asking. I warned them that they weren't going to like my answer but my difficulties with anxiety vanished about a week after I decided to stop being a Witness and I've never been more peaceful and content in my life. This was shocking news to them and the rest of the conversation is a whole topic in itself but after talking to them and listening to their lame rationalizations, I was thankful that I was not a JW anymore.
Anyway...as we all know, JW's only talk about the train wrecks because it helps them rationalize their own doubts.

Should I hit send button as is? Change? Or just hit delete?
by Lied2NoMore inso after being deleted because of my comment on her instagram post by my sister-in-law i got a text from her stating she didn't want a debate on instagram and the scripture i posted would not apply to satan, they are worried about me, go see elders, return to jehovah, or else you won't get life, etc etc.... i'm ready to respond with the following reply:.
so....hit send?
make changes?

Pete Zahut
I wouldn't send what you wrote even though pretty much everything you wrote is accurate.
As I've said before....I've found that the less said the better. Limit your response to 2 or three sentences that simply relay your appreciation for her concern and that she shouldn't worry as its only a matter of you having are ever increasingly difficulty with some of the logic or reasoning coming from the platform that doesn't seem to be based in scripture.
Then say no more unless she asks you about something and if she does, and when you answer, be sure not to accuse or be blunt.
Soften everything you say with statements like " It seems like lately" "I could be mistaken but" "Is it me or have you noticed that..." etc.

i posted in comments: matt 5:44-48 with the full scripture rendered from niv.

What would be JW's reaction if the governing body, in all seriousness, announced a new JW Pride Day to be celebrated in the congregation every year?
Trying to imagine what would some of their slogans be?
- We're Here....We Pioneer.....Get Used To It !
- I'm A JW And I Vote ! ...oh wait...never mind.
- Your Faith, Without Our Works....Is Dead.
- JW's...Every day of the week is Shun Day
- JW's...."The TRUTH" Hurts

I Don't Get It!
by John Aquila inthere are literally about thirty young single very good looking sisters in this one kingdom hall under the age of 30. that is just one kingdom hall.
in the circuit there are literally hundreds of young beautiful jw girls under 30 who are single and anxious to get married.
about two years ago, this one single good looking brother who is about 30 years old and who is an elder married this plain looking sister who is 59 years old.

It seems like there is a lot of confusion these days among JW as to what a generation is and which one you belong to. Also, these young Brothers are tired of waiting for the "New System" and the promise or having their own pet Lion and they've settled for a "Cougar" in the here and now.
But seriously, I've seen this before and it seemed like the guy had some self esteem issues going on. In one case, after the wedding, the older sister went around complaining to everybody about how immature he was.
Everyone pretty much said to her " Well what'd you expect ?? "

Looking Back In Retrospect To 1975...
by titch ingreetings, folks: so, it's been 40 years since 1975. and, if you were actively involved with the witnesses back then, the mindset of many was, that by early autumn of 1975, it would mark the anniversary of 6000 years of human existence.
and, the hope was then, that it would mark the start of the 1000-year of christ, from the heavenly realm.
but, looking back now, 40 years ago, in june of 1975, only 3 more months remained until early autumn.

I graduated high school in 1975 and as a student, I found the prevalent "end of the world" mentality among JW's, very demotivating. What kid wants to do his homework or plan his future career if the adults in his little world are saying everything is coming to an end at any moment? Somehow I managed to get good grades but it was pure coincidence, not because I was really trying.
I remember that the much talked about "energy crisis" was in full swing at that time and JW's loved to say it was a sure sign that things were coming to an end. Who could possibly survive if gasoline ever reached a dollar per gallon ?
Jacques Costeau was going around saying that because of pollution, by the year 2000, there would be no life left in the ocean . JW's used to mockingly laugh and say that we'd be in paradise by then.
We had just come through the Watergate hearings and Nixon resigned as President in order to avoid impeachment. This was unheard of at the time and JW's saw this as further proof that man is corrupt and unable to rule himself and the world was doomed.
They'd have run me out of town on a rail if I were to suggest that we'd still be here plugging away in the year 2015.

Sometimes the less said the better when talking to someone in cult mode.
I found that once I had my little say and then stopped talking, THEY brought the subject up and I let THEM do the talking.
Sometimes as they were defending their beliefs and I quietly listened and said nothing, you could see that they were realizing how ridiculous their arguments were.
If you let them know that you simply want to understand rather than to prove a point or be right, they let down their guard.
In the case of Lett's pinky ring you could have casually said, for example.
You: " Bro. Lett always looks sharp but I don't know.....something about him wearing a pinky ring, doesn't sit right with me"
Wife: How so?
You: " Well I'm probably not seeing things correctly or being overly critical but I suppose it's because I'm thinking about Jesus' message of modesty and humility and about all those in this audience and in audiences around the world who are living meager existences because they are putting kingdom interest first in their lives or because they live in impoverished lands. It seems like sometimes a pinky ring is something a person with excess in a material way, wears and it sort of sends the message that the wearer thinks pretty highly of himself or of his position in life." Or maybe it's just because I saw that video where they are encouraging little kids to put their pocket money in the contribution box rather than treat themselves to an ice cream and seeing him with a pinky ring makes me think he's not really sacrificing much himself.
Wife: "The Bible says noting about the wearing of pinky rings and besides, he's speaking to large crowds of people and needs to look his best and look like an authority figure"
You: (nodding in agreement) "Hmmm....yeah...I suppose I can see how that could be the case. He does need to look like someone who knows what he's talking about "
If you make sure to let them know that you are questioning your self rather than their beliefs and leave it at that, often they will feel like they've done their duty by defending their cult and will at the same time hear the holes in their own logic while doing so. Over time they'll begin to notice more and more of these holes and will begin to question things as they hear them on their own.
